Happy New year everybody and good luck on keeping your goals or new year resolutions. As for me I did not make any resolutions but I did commit to being more healthy and hence the 3 day detox.

I did a 3 day detox and quit the third day. The detox was such a let down. I thought I would be drinking delicious smoothies filled with sweet fruits with little greens and no celery. I was wrong. Oh so wrong. You want to know how wrong I was? I was 4 stalks of celery wrong and a whole cucumber.

Let me tell you how I fell upon this 3 day detox regimen. I was watching Dr. Oz’s first episode of the new year and he talked about his new diet called the day off diet. I was looking for a new way to diet, one where I could lose weight and keep it off. I wanted a diet in which I could add more vegetables to my diet but still be able to indulge in fast food and fatty, salty, snacks. The day off diet seemed like the diet for me and so I went to his website to download the plan but on my journey. I saw this 3 day detox plan and I thought to myself, “Three days of smoothies! I can do that easy.” So I print out the plan and I was happy that I was going to start my new year being healthy and light. Because after the holidays and a few stints at Popeyes I was heavy at least I felt bleh.

The next week I decided to begin the detox. I got all the items I needed on the pricey shopping list. Not only was I going to be light in weight but I was going to be light in my pockets too. So I got my groceries and I was too excited to start. I really was looking forward to changing my eating habits and looking and feeling better. Day one came I was ready I chose to start on a Wednesday because I wanted to start the day off diet with my day off being a Saturday. The smoothie wasn’t bad raspberries are not as sweet as strawberries but the banana made up for that and I only had to add a splash of spinach. The smoothie was tart but it was drinkable. I was on my way hey, hey. One smoothie down 8 more to go.

Now this second smoothie, for some reason I missed the ingredients I needed to put in the lunch smoothie. I bought the celery but I didn’t know the dilemma that was ahead. My lunch smoothie, oh yeah this detox was over a period of the three days and I had to drink a smoothie for breakfast lunch and dinner and a snack.

greens

I got to my lunch smoothie and I knew it was going to be a green smoothie but not this green. I had to put 4 stalks of celery and a whole cucumber. If anybody knows about the green smoothie life you would know celery is the worst vegetable you can put in a smoothie. It taste good with some ranch dressing on top of it but that is it. Anyway I was determined to get my detox on because my skin was breaking out and I needed to cleanse. So I made the drink and I  drank it reluctantly. It was so thick I had to add some water just to get it down. I was glad when I finished drinking half of the batch I made because I really could not drink the whole thing. The remainder of the drink I placed in the freezer to finish drinking the next day.

Smoothie number 3 was not bad it was again like the other smoothies bland, not sweet at all. When I was done with day 1 of the detox I thanked my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and asked him to help me through the next 2 days. I really was questioning my decision but low and behold that night I did a number 2. The detox was working and quickly. The next day I made my breakfast smoothie and for some reason I thought it would taste better. At least I thought my taste buds would forget what good taste like, but nope I had to endure another bad smoothie day. I got through day two and I didn’t want to do this smoothie detox one more day. The next morning I woke up ready to get this final day of the detox over and done with. I made the breakfast smoothie and when it was time to make my lunch smoothie I was feeling light headed I do not know why I was feeling this way so I gave in and ate a meal. I was done I could not do it anymore physically and mentally. So I was FREEEEEEEEEEE to eat what ever I want.

That was my 3 day detox experience. My skin looked great afterwards so I was glad that I did the detox and my stomach went down a bit. I do not know if I lost any weight since losing weight was not the reason why I went on the detox. Plus I did not weigh myself before or after I went on the detox.

Would I do it again. I do not know, maybe with a few changes I would.

Next. On to the Day off diet. Lets see how I am going to like this diet.
