I do not know who Chobani is but she can have all my money. In my last post I talked about how I was going on the Day off diet. One of the foods that I was introduced to was greek yogurt. I knew about it but I also knew that it cost more than regular yogurt so why would I ever buy this new bougie yogurt. Since I am Ms. El Cheapo and proud of it, I never cared to buy greek yogurt. I mean, what’s my motivation?
Loosing weight was.
Eventually I gave in and spent a few more coins on the greek yogurt. My dilemma was not only the cost but also the taste. Dr. Oz wanted me to eat plain greek yogurt I knew what plain yogurt taste like, I had it one time but I thought that greek yogurt would be different but it was 10 times worse. The texture was great, but the taste was sour. I tried adding apples with cinnamon and that made the taste better. After a week I got bored of the apple and cinnamon taste and decided to give in and try the regular greek yogurt with flavor.

First I tried the namebrand yogurt that rhymes with Pat Buchanan and I really enjoyed the flavor, the coconut flavor won me over. I felt like I was eating coconut flavored ice cream and the island girl in me was laying on the beach with a pina coloda in my hand. Until Dr. Oz woke me up and schooled me on real greek yogurt. Me being so new to the greek yogurt game had no idea what made yogurt greek. Apparently greek yogurt is regular yogurt that has been strained of the extra moisture or whey, therefore the thick consistency. But since greek yogurt is becoming so popular instead of going through the process of straining the yogurt some yogurt manufacturers just add thickeners like corn starch. After I got privy to this edu moment I felt duped. I was upset because I could add corn starch to regular yogurt myself. I have been paying extra for cornstarch with out any knowledge. Even though the ingredients are on the label, if I didn’t know what greek yogurt was, why would I care about these miscellaneous thickeners. This was one of the reasons why I wanted to write this blog just to inform those that spend that extra money buying greek yogurt know how to tell the real from the fake.

Chobani seems to be real you can go to the website and read the label and Dr. Oz’s greek yogurt checklist met all the requirements.
Now for the taste factor. The pomegranate flavor has real pomegranate in it, not just a fake flavor there are real seeds. At least it better be real. The key lime flavor has real key lime pulp in it also, I was hoping for some pie crust but my greedy behind will add it in next time. The coconut flavor had coconut shavings and reminded me again of coconut ice cream. I thought all of the flavors were worth the buy.I found my greek friend and she is good for me, she keeps the bloating down and me regular. There you have it why chobani has my coins but if she could be a little cheaper or give me some of my coins back. We could be best friends forever.
Do you think greek yogurt is worth the trouble? Or is she just after my coins?
