How do you eat a lobster roll?
Lobster, meet roll, and then meet my fork and knife or hands? I do not know how to eat this thing. And since my friend and I were at a restaurant that I never went to before, with millions of people looking at me I had to be on my, “don’t embarrass me behavior”. Even though no one was really looking at me.
My friend and I went to an oyster bar called Spoto’s to look at oysters because we shole did not eat that muck. But before we went out I told her I wanted to try something new. I had the intentions of eating a sea snail. But then it happened…dun…dun…dun…duuun.
I felt the earth move under my feet. I felt the sky tumbling down…but no not really. I just got side tracked when I saw that Spoto’s Oyster bar had lobster roll on their menu and I remembered when Guy Fieri went to a lobster joint in Maine and I vowed if I had the opportunity I would eat a lobster roll in Maine. Well I was not in Maine and I really did not want to be a food adventurer when I am hungry, so lobster roll get in my belly.
I ordered the lobster roll and I was ready. My only dilemma was that we sat right next to the kitchen and this was not a bad thing for me because I got to see the chefs prepare my meal and everybody else’s. Fortunately for my waiter I didn’t call her back to change my order every time I saw a hot, juicy, wet, smooth….salad being made. No. I am kidding. The salad was not hot.

Finally my meal was being made and coming to me yay. Oh no wait it wasn’t my order it was someone else’s. Damn. Okay here it was, here it was and it was certainly no disappointment. I had it. I got my lobster roll. Guy would be so proud of me. But What was I suppose to do with it? I asked my friend how to eat this thing and she gave me the old shrug and girl I am eating look. So I tried the fork and knife method but that was not working. My stomach was barking and since I was in a nice spot with nice people I did not want to shame my momma and use my hands. So I just acted like a motherless child and used my hands and I was oh so satisfied. The roll was so soft that the plump, juicy lobster meat was too much for the light, fluffy roll. I had no regrets. Mayonnaise on my face and all. It was worth the judgmental stares and….there really wasn’t any stares. Even though my greedy face needed some taming.

Spotos made this food experience one that will have me coming back when ever I can. I love seafood and the restaurant and the staff were great. Maybe next time I will have some oysters and hopefully it will be a good experience too.
My friend said oysters are good but I unno if I can believe a girl that finds Rick Ross attractive. But hey we all have our flaws so who am I to judge.
so there you have it my trying to fancy experience. I always feel like I should be proper when I go out and eat by using a fork and spoon but some foods just are meant to be loved and a lobster roll is one of them.
