Last November, I finally got to experience something that had been on my travel list — visiting the Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá in Yucatán, Mexico. 🇲🇽

I was staying at the Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun, and I booked my excursion through Nexus Tours.
My morning started EARLY! 😩😂 I left my hotel room knowing I had about a two-hour ride ahead of me. The bus ride was actually pretty comfortable, and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable.
And then…we finally arrived.
Walking onto the grounds of Chichén Itzá was such a special moment for me. This was my first trip to Mexico, so being able to experience such an important part of Mayan history made the trip even more meaningful.

Our guide walked with us through the grounds and continued explaining the history and significance of what we were seeing. I really appreciated having a guide there because, as a first-time visitor to Mexico, I felt comfortable throughout the entire experience.

But I have to mention what happened AFTER the tour.
When we returned to the bus, we were greeted with warm towels and a light lunch. After spending hours walking around the ruins, that warm towel felt GOOD! 😂 It was such a thoughtful touch.

And most importantly, everyone made it back safely.
From leaving my hotel early that morning to finally returning after an unforgettable day in Yucatán, I had a wonderful experience.
Excellent job, Nexus Tours. 👏🏾

If you’re visiting Cancun and have ever thought about taking the trip to Chichén Itzá, I can tell you this: the ride may be long, but standing there and experiencing a piece of Mayan history for yourself is something completely different.
Chichén Itzá was my reason for going to Mexico for the first time.
And it became one of those travel memories I’ll always have. ❤️🇲🇽
